Prior political experience: Served on Mayor Shelia Dixon’s Blue Ribbon Tax Panel; ran in 2011 for City Council and lost to Democrat Rochelle “Rikki” Spector

Hobbies: Traveling, reading, biking, hiking and working out

Best thing that has happened to him: “My son is the best thing that has happened to me because he is a good kid. We spend time together, and I invested and exposed my son to the ins and outs of business and traveling out of the country. I always allowed him to make his own decisions. My education was also the best at Baltimore City College.”

Favorite childhood memory: “Some of my favorite childhood memories are my friends, traveling and spending time with family and playing with friends. I guess, my experience at Baltimore City College.”

Favorite memory of something that has happened in the district: “I had the opportunity to meet a lot of friends. I played Little League baseball in the district and football outside of the district. I’ve had the opportunity, particularly as I got older, to meet people from all different races and religions. At one time when I was a kid, we all lived, went to school together and played together. We didn’t have the barriers. If we had them we didn’t know that we had them, but we didn’t have the barriers that are placed on kids now because there is no interaction.”

Favorite food: Mexican, Indian, sometimes vegetarian – calls himself a “foodie”

Favorite color: Blue because his dad had a blue-and-white car; he has several blue suits and the color blue is one he can always relate to

Favorite song: A gospel song, “May the Work that I’ve Done Speak for Me”

Favorite books: Who Stole My Cheese?, a book about corporate America by Ilene Hochbberg; and The Mis-Education of the Negro by Carter G. Woodson

Favorite sports team: Baltimore Ravens

Favorite saying: “May the work that I’ve done speak for me.”

People who have most inspired him: Ray Haysbert and Reginald Lewis, two legendary businessmen

Mayoral candidate he is supporting: No decision yet

Why people should vote for Derrick Lennon: “Number 1, I’ve been fighting for the people of the 5th District for the past 10 years. As a community leader, often I have found myself fighting against the current elective officials because they were making decisions for the residents for the community but not including the residents of the community in the process.”
